SUMMARY:Live Beyond: A Celebration of Trauma Survivors
DESCRIPTION:Presented by University Medical Center\, Inc.’s Medical Executive Committee\n  \nUofL Health – UofL Hospital – J. David Richardson Trauma Center is the region’s only Level I trauma center\, providing lifesaving care when it matters most. As a member of the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Survivors Network\, the Trauma Center also supports patients and families throughout the long journey of recovery after serious injury. \nEach year\, in recognition of National Trauma Survivors Day (the third Wednesday in May)\, the Trauma Center hosts Live Beyond Trauma – an annual event dedicated to honoring survivors\, celebrating resilience\, and recognizing the community that surrounds them with care. \nArt\, Healing\, and Resilience\nThis year’s event highlights survivors who participated in a guided art therapy experience\, creating three‑dimensional floral bouquets that express their identities\, strength\, and paths toward healing. Using the symbolism and language of flowers\, each piece reflects personal meaning\, memory\, and hope. \nThe bouquets are displayed alongside origami butterflies created by survivors’ loved ones\, community members\, and UofL Health staff. Symbolizing transformation\, the butterflies represent the powerful impact of compassion and collective support – reminding us that healing is strengthened by community. \nWhy It Matters\nLive Beyond Trauma is more than an event – it’s a celebration of survival\, a space for healing through expression\, and a testament to the life‑changing role of trauma care and support. DESCRIPTION:Kim Heath Hats for Hope Fashion Show presented by Wehr Constructors\, Inc.\nwith additional support from R & R Incorporated of Louisville\n\nThe Kim Heath Hats for Hope Fashion Show\, benefiting UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center\, is presented by Wehr Constructors\, Inc. with additional support from R & R Incorporated of Louisville. It will be held from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m on Sunday\, April 19\, 2026 at the Mellwood Art Center. As a preview to Derby season\, the $100 ticket includes brunch\, shopping and a Derby-themed fashion show featuring patients and providers from Brown Cancer Center. Tickets may be purchased here. \nThe fashion show is named in honor of a former Brown Cancer Center patient\, Kim Heath. Kim was an inspiration to so many\, including her team at Brown Cancer Center\, who cared for her for six years while she faced metastatic melanoma. She was a dedicated wife\, mother and grandmother. Despite her diagnosis\, she always thought of others. \nThe Hats for Hope Fashion Show fundraiser was Kim’s way of giving back to Brown Cancer Center. Her wish was to help others along their journey. All funds raised through the fashion show go back to Brown Cancer Center to help other patients facing a difficult diagnosis.
