Who We Are

Every act of generosity across UofL Health, from grateful patient gifts to major community dollars, is made possible through the UofL Health Foundation. UofL Health – Office of Philanthropy is the team responsible for raising these funds and connecting donors’ passions to the needs of our health system, patients, programs and caregivers.

Founded in 2021, the Foundation has grown rapidly. What began as a three-person team now includes nine dedicated professionals, all based out of the 15th floor of UofL Health – Rudd Center.

The Foundation and Office of Philanthropy have an ambitious annual goal: to raise $10 million through individual donations, corporate and foundation philanthropy, and planned giving in order to enhance patient care, support innovation and expand community impact.

UofL Health Foundation partners with the University of Louisville Foundation, which stewards and manages gifts on  UofL Health Foundation’s behalf.

“In addition to raising money for patient support and clinical operations, we are actively working to build a culture of philanthropy at UofL Health. A culture of philanthropy is an organizational value system and mindset where everyone shares responsibility for supporting the mission by contributing resources, time, and advocacy, not just the fundraising team. It’s about embedding giving into the organization’s DNA, fostering strong relationships, being a good steward of philanthropic dollars and recognizing that philanthrophy is essential for achieving organizational goals.” – Kara Salsman, VP of UofL Health Philanthropy
